Researching Green Activism Documentary Project
Isiolo Gender Watch-Kenya and Minority Rights Group-Africa seek an experienced documentary producer or production team to create a 10-15 minute film summarizing research findings on climate change defenders from indigenous and minority communities in Kenya.
Project Overview
The documentary will translate research findings into accessible storytelling that captures the experiences of indigenous environmental defenders from the Rendille and Turkana communities in Isiolo and Marsabit Counties. The film examines threats to climate activists, shrinking civic space in conservation contexts, and the need for protection mechanisms for Indigenous Environment Human Rights Defenders. The project aims to inspire dialogue and policy change while amplifying the voices of marginalized communities facing disproportionate climate impacts.
Scope of Work
The selected team will produce a main documentary film (10-15 minutes), 3-5 short portrait format videos for social media (maximum 3 minutes each), subtitle files in English and local languages, and at least 10 still images. Deliverables include a concept note and storyboard, script and shot list aligned with research findings, and full HD video files with proper technical specifications. The production team must obtain properly completed consent forms from all subjects and deliver raw footage alongside final products.
