Ever Ready Grass Root Network

What is the campaign about? "Climate change has turned our lives upside down" say the women of Burat Ward, Isiolo County. Their oral testimonies, shared through the Climate Diaries platform, reveal the harsh realities of drought, displacement, and rising vulnerabilities—especially for women and girls. These stories, told in their own words, spotlight how the changing climate intensifies gender-based violence, early marriages, and health crises, making daily life a struggle for survival. The Climate Diaries campaign amplifies the voices of these grassroots pastoralist women and girls, empowering them to share their experiences of resilience and transformation. Through these videos, you'll witness first hand the impacts of climate change and the solutions they are creating to fight back.

Organisation Aim

Isiolo Gender Watch’s initiative, Advancing Social and Climate Justice Through Economic Empowerment of Grassroots Pastoralist Women and Girls, is transforming lives in Burat Ward. By establishing aloe farming, beekeeping enterprises, and a multipurpose community hall, the project will provide sustainable income sources and fosters social resilience among the women of Eveready Women's Network. This initiative addresses critical issues: Gender-based violence, early marriages, and youth delinquency. Lack of access to antenatal, postnatal, and mental health services. Economic disempowerment and environmental vulnerabilities. Through training, income generation, and improved healthcare, the project aims to reduce inequalities and create a safer, more resilient community.
